All entrants must be entered into the event via a paper registration form or online registration form before taking part. The deadline for submitting paper entry forms is Friday 30 August 2019 – please return them to:

Participants of any age can now enter (we have removed the previous under 12 years restriction). Participants aged 16 years and under must be accompanied by a paying adult who will be responsible for their safety throughout the event.
From Friday 12 July up to midnight on Sunday 1 September the standard entry fee will be £20 for an adult, £10 for a child
(aged 2-11) and free for children aged under 2. Thereafter adults will be expected to pay a late entry fee of £25 (the child fee remains unchanged).
The early bird entry fee for the Hospice Care Hero Walk of £15 ended on Sunday 30 June 2019. The entry fee covers expenses only and is nonrefundable. Any entrant who is unable to take part in the event should notify Dorothy House as soon as possible.
All entrants are asked to raise at least £28 in sponsorship. By participating in this event, all entrants agree to raise sponsorship or to make a personal donation instead of (in lieu of) raising sponsorship. All sponsorship to be submitted by Friday 8 November 2019.
We regret that due to the hilly and uneven terrain the 5km and 10km routes are NOT suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Mobility scooters, wheelchairs and pushchairs are most welcome on the 1km route. Entrants are responsible for their own medical condition, ensuring they are fit to complete the walk within the three-hour time limit for the 10km and 1.5 hour time limit for the 5km.
Please consult your doctor if you are in any doubt about your medical suitability. All participants walk at their own risk.
Dogs are allowed to accompany walkers on the route but are not permitted inside any of the university buildings. Any participant bringing a dog must act in a responsible manner by making sure that it is:
• Kept on a lead at all times and any usual equipment (muzzle / harness etc.) used to control the dog is employed on the day.
• Wearing a collar with a clearly identifiable tag.
• Adequately supplied with water to keep it hydrated.
• Never left unattended in a hot car, even if it’s just for a short while. Temperatures can quickly rise to 47°C (117°F) in these environments which can be deadly.
Please be aware that it is the responsibility of all dog owners to clean up and dispose of any fouling responsibly.
Entrants are responsible for making their own way home after the event. Please remember that this will be after 8.30pm and there is very limited public transport available. Dorothy House staff cannot arrange transport. Entrants should be aware that photographs taken during the walk may be used to publicise the event and the work of the hospice. If you do not wish to be photographed, please make yourself known to the official photographers and social media team (who will be clearly identifiable), and you will be supplied with a discrete lanyard so that your preferences are adhered to at all times.
Dorothy House Hospice Care reserves the right to cancel this event at any time due to unforeseen circumstances. By signing the entry form you agree to follow the reasonable directions of Dorothy House Hospice Care, the event marshals, and abide by the Terms and Conditions of entry for the Hospice Care Hero Walk.
In no event shall Dorothy House Hospice Care be liable for any injuries, loss or damages whatsoever, including indirect, punitive, special, incidental or consequential losses connected with any aspect of this walk.
